Fundraiser: Pork Chop Dinner, November 13, 2016
Our next fundraiser is our Pork Chop Dinner, which will take place at Joliet Central High School in the student center/cafeteria on Sunday, November 13, 2016.
In order to run this fundraiser, we need a minimum of 36 parent volunteers.
You can visit this link to sign up to volunteer:
Please enter your name, email and/or number in the boxes provided, and Mrs. Nancy Timm will be in contact with you, and will have more information soon regarding ticket sales and other logistics.
Our Band Parent Association runs many fundraisers to help offset the cost of band trips. Fundraisers are an opportunity for students to help cover part of or all of the cost to educational and exciting performance opportunities. Past band trips have included New York, Canada, Gatlinburg, TN, Cleveland, OH, and Orlando, FL. Our next band trip is during the 2017-2018 school year. A trip location will be determined during second semester, and the location will be based off of what is reasonably affordable for our students (determined by trip account balances).
Career Readiness: Music Majors
Our symphonic band students had the pleasure of working with Dr. Charles Menghini, VanderCook College of Music, on Thursday. Dr. Menghini then stayed and had lunch with band, choir, and orchestra students that were interested in majoring in music.
Dr. Menghini is President and Director of Bands at VanderCook College of Music, and is one of the authors of the Essential Elements Band Method, used around the world. Our kids got a great experience and some great advice about what it takes to be a music major!
