BAND HAPPENINGS

  • Symphonic Band is working to get ready for the Veteran's Day Assembly, which will be on Thursday, November 10, during 8th period.  The assembly is open to the public.
  • On Monday, 10/31, concert band will be having their scale assessment in class (rescheduled)
  • On Friday, 10/28, JCHS Band Alum and Vandoren Sponsored Woodwind Artist Shawn Maxwell visited both concert and symphonic band to do a special clinic on reed choices, mouthpiece options, and woodwind techniques.  Our students really enjoyed Mr. Maxwell's time, and even got some free reeds and gifts.  Special thanks to Vandoren company for sponsoring Mr. Maxwell's time.

ALL CITY CONCERT ON THURSDAY

On Thursday at 7pm at Hufford Junior, the District 86 All-City Band will perform a concert.  Although this is not required, Central Band students are encouraged to attend to All-City concert to support the District 86 students (some of them may be Central band members some day!).  Feel free to attend and wear your Steelmen spiritwear!

BAND CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE

A separate email will be sent with information on scholarships for summer band camps through Blue Lake.  Students are heavily encouraged to seek these scholarship opportunities out.

PORK CHOP DINNER TICKETS AVAILABLE

Pork Chop dinner tickets were handed out to band students this week.  Please turn in ticket stubs with money by November 4 to the band lockbox, outside of the uniform room.

Reminder: all students are expected to sell!  Not planning on going on a future trip?  Please remember some of the "perks" of the Joliet Central Band.  Woodwind players are supplied free reeds from the band; you may also be using a school-owned instrument to play on, and you may realize that we do not charge a rental fee for that instrument!  Fundraisers for the band can benefit ALL members in more ways than you might know, and raising and earning money helps us to continue our "band way of life," which includes quality instruments, opportunities, and yes, band trips.
